Front of Classrooms

The Classroom

The classrooms have come a long way but still have a long way to go. With the physical and financial assistance of several mission minded people from the U.S. the school has seen new construction.

Classroom without windows

Teaching Outside (hot)

I Have seen these classrooms go through many changes yet they are still in need of improvement for a more efficient and proper learning and teaching environment. Examples are missing windows, poor lighting, poor ventilation (fans no A/C).

Exterior Passageway

Cafeteria

The Cafeteria is an open air, walk up window operation. This presents many problems beyond the problems of rain and mud.

The Kids have no place to sit except on the ground and in the summer the heat is intense. It also presents problems for the faculty keeping order and providing security. There is no gym, no common area, no building of any type for eating, meetings or presentations.

Nurse’s Station

No school can be without a Nurse’s Station and of course this one is no different with the exception that the nurse here deals with many more problems and issues and matters of hygiene. The school nurse will deal with many problems beyond the usual cuts and bruises. The nurse at the school is the front line health care provider and in fact may be the only health care that these children will receive. The school looks to outside help for medicines, bandages, antibiotics and health care items such as toothbrushes and cough drops and over the counter items.

Project Honduras & the School

We have shared information about the school its present status and future hopes. Project Honduras sees this school as more than just a place to receive an education but a place that also instills hope, direction, self esteem, caring and structure in children’s lives. We feel we can assist with the future of this school by being a conduit for communication and access to our brothers and sisters in the United States that have a heart for children and educational ministries. We at Project Honduras have created paths that can enable you to join in this most important endeavor to help the children of Roatan, Honduras. It takes more than temporary assistance in the lives of these kids it takes commitment and consistency in their growing years. If you or your church are interested in becoming active in the lives of the these children through education and Christian structure the following information identifies ways you can get involved.

Scholarships

The Scholarship is designed to pay for a child to attend school for one school year. However assistance to provide them even a month or more is often enough to keep them in school.

The Scholarship enables the student to meet the required tuition fees, have the required uniforms, all school books and to have an adequate supply of paper, pencils and required school supplies.

The Scholarship is designed to assist both children and their families that have no access to funds to allow the children to continue education at the Methodist School.

Cost

You may contact us at hondomission@gmail.com for a complete breakdown on the scholarship program including cost and donation procedure. Project Honduras will oversee your child as he or she proceeds throughout the school year and give you updates and progress reports .

Supplies

Supplies are an ongoing concern as all of the school supplies are generally purchased by the school so the children will have them on hand. Children buy paper one sheet at a time and often other supplies are handled in the same manner.

Your donation for school supplies can allow us to buy much needed computers and hardware and chairs and desks and school supplies and set up a fund for those kids who have no money to purchase these items needed for the school day

We prefer donations as opposed to sending supplies as the cost of shipping and customs can be expensive. With your donations we can purchase supplies locally and only when needed.

Money can be donated for supplies by using the donation button at the top of this page..

If for any reason you are interested in donating a large quantity of supplies and or used computers, etc. we can make arrangements through a private U.S. shipper to receive those items. Please contact us by going to the contact page located in this website.
